Slant6 70 Challenger Al here enthusiasts, as a lot of you know already I sold my Slant6. Beings I don't need the these fasteners I've been hanging onto for the 70 rear finish panel then I going to sell them. I have the full set except aim missing 2 of the 7 screws that are needed to secure the top of the panel under the deck lid. But all the rest of the clips I have. These clips are very hard to find as a lot of you putting together an SE or the Rt/SE 70 Challenger know already. I will be putting up a few more various parts to sell presently. So message me on the clips as I have already Google researched them to get an idea what the marketplace looks like for them throw some offers my way we'll talk. I'm posting up a pic of them.   Thanks,   Al

avatar_70/6chall @70/6chall So a full set would be comprised of 6 of the larger clips for just above the tail lights, 6 of the smaller clips (3 for each side) for the quarter panel ends, and then 7 screws that secure the top.

You actually have a full set plus 1 extra "big" clip and 3 extra "small" clips there.

If you'd consider selling the 3 extra smaller side clips separately I'd be interested in them.

Thank you Sheldon for mentioning this. We've known each other here on e-bodies.org for many years now. Yes, this is the full OE set of factory fasteners for the one year only 70 Challenger SE rear finish panel minus of course 2 of the screws. My Challenger is in its new home and I have visitation rights. The new owner, a 66 year old auto related business owner loves the car exactly as it is. No, V8 will be dropped in between the fenders. On the fasteners I have Google researched them as far as I can go and No! Info on any out there available, as you said unobtainable until someone posts up some. I'm sure someone needs these as you said. Thanks again for the mention.    Al

The correct screws that go across the deck lid area, and the correct nuts to mount all the clips are shown in the attached picture. The nuts would secure the panel to the car much better than those flimsy Pal nuts you show.
The screws you show are for the wing type clips that hold convertible stainless trim around where the convertible top retracts. I'll dig up a picture that shows this.

So the nuts are not correct for the fasteners in Al's kit? avatar_70/6chall @70/6chall  I have found both the screws and a clip with machined acorn style nut in the trunk of my RT/SE.  No stamped nuts on the clips.

198D13, Hi not to dispute your word or challenge it, but the fasteners and screws I've had with the finish panel, which I sold, were the ones I've had for 25-30 years. With all the Google research I've done to my understanding was all correct. The Pal nuts or speed nuts came with the fasteners I have and are flimsy agreed, I agree with you they aren't the best to use to secure the panel to the body but they are what I had. I changed out Pal nuts under my dash with better securing nuts as you have. I also have pictures on this. Thanks,   Al

1 @198D13 What is the thread size for the nuts you are using on the clips?

They are the original ones that were on the car when they were removed by me.  They will be the same thread size as your acorn nuts. Do you need/want correct nuts for your car?

Say what you want, but Google is NOT a car site. Even the picture you posted from the 1970 Dodge service manual of the tail panel and how it is attached to the rear of the car, shows actual nuts not Pal nuts.

I wonder if what was used changed over the model year? I seem to have some clips with pal nuts like from Al's set, and then some with the captive washer exactly the same as the ones 198D13 posted. And then the acorn nuts in ebodyproducts pic look like they could be original as well. I had parted out an Oct 69? built SE and my R/T SE is from almost April 1970. Not sure which came from which, I didn't label them very well.

Here is some information I found on a research expedition online. This has to do with the fasteners for the SE rear finish panel. Just saying this information is pulled from sources somewhere online.
