I was going to say make sure you don't buy a Philips unless it's working  :alan2cents:

Yes talked to Wards today and got a education. I can go with a updated radio but then I have to replace all the speakers and I won't be able to use my speaker fader switch. And I have all OEM speakers :headbang:

Welcome to the ebody radio saga.

Tired of the AM radio? Prepare to pay if you want original-looking. Yes, the aftermarket original clone (not correct style for a 1970 though since it lacks thumb-wheels) requires new speakers.

I've tried an AM-transmitter with marginal results. Super hard to find, and only sold on the hobby level. Problem is your AM radio has to function perfectly for one of those to work. My AM radio "wanders" slightly...I typically have to "retune" it every couple minutes. This makes the transmitter option pretty useless.

Honestly, the cheapest, most stock looking option is to simply just get yourself a Bluetooth speaker and stash it under your seat or behind you. Instant connection to your phone, and let your phone drive everything else. That's all we want nowadays anyways is bluetooth since it enables all of the above.

Some people may go further and install a full modern player/amp under their seat, but that again typically requires new speakers (plus wiring). The more simple option if you want some tunes at moderate quality is a bluetooth speaker.

That is the conclusion of my thinking on this topic for 12 months.

They are popping up from time to time, but like most car parts, they're easier to find when not looking... :))
