e-body power brake pivot return spring

Does anyone know who makes a reproduction brake pivot spring, thanks

I saw that one on eBay too, pricey for a spring that won't ever be seen, the listing even states its a reproduction

I never saw a return spring on an E body brake pedal???

I have 3 E bodies and have worked on many more and honestly not one of them had one on there. Is that a factory piece that was missing on every car I've worked on?

70 only I believe? In another thread I had posted that I thought mine was missing but I've since found it still dangling from the support bracket. Also the 70 linkage has a groove for the spring but the 71 & up linkage does not.

For $66 I would pass too. I would get the appropriate size music wire and make one until I found one at a decent price.

I don't know if this proves anything but Brewers lists one with spring for '70 & one without for '71-up

I ended up going to a local machine shop to see about repairing mine, but ended up they had a GM (I know, I know) brake spring that was very similar in coil size and length. After a bit of careful bending to replicate the end that fits in the groove and it's been faultless. (cost < $5)

The main function of that spring is to provide positive contact with the brake light switch.  Unless you have a concours/OEM judging going on, I'd go for replicating it.  A serviceable spring isn't too hard to make, especially given the pricey options.

Excellent work! With just some minor bending it would be nearly indistinguishable.  And you can start a new venture to suppy the B and E body communities.

Uh...what does that spring do?  :dunno:
I got my pedals out of a '70 'cuda and while maybe there was one there originally, there hasn't been one since I installed them around '88.

The spring provides positive contact with the brake light switch when the brake pedal is released. Primary intent seemed to be for times of low vacuum from the power brake unit.

Since it was discontinued on later years, it clearly must not be required under most conditions.
