Here is what's in mine, no idea as to the origins?

Katfish

That's nice! Before they added the plastic cover

I've been ask a few questions in regards to the differences of the latches and just why one will work and one wont...I'll add a little more detailed info as to what the differences are...I've highlighted the areas in question that may or may not need some work to get it to latch...The latch mechanism needs to be able to go up in the two holes on either side of the trunk's striker plate to grab it properly..  You could use this style but you would need to remove metal in the green areas so these areas don't contact the latch plate before the mechanism reaches the striker..

Note how this one{and the all metal unit previously posted} has the latch mechanism already exposed ...Basically "sticking up" with the metal on either side being lower...That's the main difference between the two units...

Katfish

Great info, appreciate you taking the time to show the difference.
The hunt continues.......

Here's an update for those adding an electric latch.
I found this NOS part on EBay for $60 shipped.
This PN might be still available through the dealer.

@Katfish Did you get this one installed? Were you still able to use the key lock?

Aren't the latch's seen in both pics the same, only one is inverted in the pic?
In the immortal words of Jimmy Scott- "pace yourself!"

Been awhile, but I never ended up installing it.
