Has he tried bolting them in & seeing if there's interference? JYC was dealing with manual regulators...  Power window regulators mount low enough in the door & I doubt they would have any issues....

That's exactly what I just asked him in an email, and pointed out (GYC working with a manual one). Hopefully he'll respond when he gets home from work and settles in. I have a hunch this is what's going on, concluding that if a manual '70 door regulator has interference then a '70 power probably does also.

Well, he hasn't tried mounting them yet. Once he saw the interference (good word) with the manual regulator he assumed that it would be the same with his power regulator. As a result, that portion of his restoration went on hold. After he read everything in this thread he feels better and will try mounting what he has. He also thanked everyone that helped, so I'm passing that on.

Okay, time to put some closure to this. I was at his house before & after Carlisle. He left everything in the donor door until the change over to ensure that it'll be a direct swap over when he's ready, so there's nothing installation related to remember or forget.

The gear on the P/W regulator looks smaller and it looks like it might mount lower too (awkward to see in there). We put power to it and ran the window up and down. That large toothed gear didn't come anywhere near the top of the door. There's no possibility of interference as was shown in the GYC video with the manual regulator. He's confident that everything will be fine.

Thanks: 1 Wild R/T, Cuda Cody, silver70, and YYZ for your help.

YYZ, that "guy up the hill from the Pen center" told me he didn't have any P/W regulatore from a '71 for me to compare with.

:crying: Say it ant so!!!!!!!!

I'm no fan of those idiots, but they weren't wrong, they just didn't address power windows, they were dealing with manual crank windows which are unique for 70......
