Here is a link to a Panther Pink Challenger listed in an upcoming Mecum auction.  The write up states, "Reproduction fender tag with current options, color and trim codes affixed."  What good is a tag if it is faked to match what the owner/restorer made the car into?  The tag isn't readable in any of the pictures and I don't know if they did this on the tag, but wouldn't changing an "N" code to a "V" code be altering the VIN?  I know the VIN shows up in other locations but the tag is what most people look at first.  It also does not state if the original tag would be provided either.  I posted this on another forum but there was little interest or concern.  Any concerns here?

It looks like the original tag is posted.

Where's the problem ? Clearly states the car has two tags, a reproduction and the original  :dunno:

I get tags made for these resto-mods and clones just for fun...most people prefer seeing a tag there then a blank spot on the inner apron  :alan2cents:

Yeah, I'm ok with it (probably because I'm building a clone of a car I could never afford). I think it's fine as long as you keep the actual VIN on the car and don't try to scam anyone and make the original tag available to any potential buyer.

I didn`t see the write up or the repro tag showing the V code?

I don't see a problem with it. Both tags are listed in the description, full disclosure in my opinion.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not sure this is the original tag.  All the tags I've seen for LA-built cars have the vinyl top coded twice, so I would expect to see "V1W" coded towards the top.  And on the LA tags I've seen the character font was different from the Hamtramck font, but this one looks like the Hamtramck font.  There are people with far more expertise about this than me, but this tag may actually be the reproduction one.  Either way I agree the description seems to be in full disclosure as a clone, which is nice to see, I'm just not sure if the auction description is referring to this tag as the original or the reproduction.

both tags FC7 VS. FM3 for this Challenger are neither accurate nor original   :foul:

Maybe I missed something, but where is the picture of the "original" tag?

All I see is the pink painted one.

Apparently it's not an original FM3 car nor AC car, which is fine.

Not sure why anyone would paint a non-FM3 car, FM3.  Car for the wife?

Again, whoever buys it will only be interested in it because it's a cool looking car  (for his girlfriend )

I am not sure if or which tag is original on the car posted, but I have had LA built cars with both style fonts on the tag. The majority were the thin font tags.

I've seen both fonts on LA tags. Mostly the skinny font.
Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing the vinyl top listed twice on LA tags.
