Are you referring to the one on the lower left corner of the dashpad? ECS also has a transfer for that

     Yes. I did renew the Pentatstar logo with one of those transfers (it looks great). I am wanting to touch up the black background around the rivets.

That's pretty hard to do and have the paint match.  I'd leave it alone if it were mine unless you want to strip it and start over.   If you hadn't applied the ECS decal yet, I'd say spray it with SEM black landau rattle can paint.

I really do want to preserve the original 50 year patina, so maybe you are right and I will just leave it be.
