Referring to the mirror codes on the fender tag for this low-mile 1970 Challenger R/T with a hemi (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-dodge-challenger-r-t-hemi/).
A separate thread on this forum discusses the car itself. https://forum.e-bodies.org/cuda-and-challenger-general-discussion-roseville-moparts/2/original-hemi-challenger-discovered-bring-a-trailer/26526/msg302058#new

The fender tag is no doubt the original but I have a question.
The tag shows both G32 - Painted Passenger Side Racing Mirror (Right) Manual Adjusting and G34 - Painted Driver Side Racing Mirror (Left) Remote Adjusting versus just the one code of G36 - Painted Racing Mirrors: Driver Side Remote Adjusting / Passenger Side Manual Adjusting.
Painted mirrors are always even numbered codes and chrome mirrors are odd numbered codes but why put two codes when one code would do?
I have searched through my fender tag pictures and two codes (G31 & G33 chrome or G32 & G34 painted) shows up far more than one code (G36 painted). I found no tags with G37 - dual chrome mirrors.

Does anyone have insight on how the mirror codes are decided to go on the fender tag?

70vert

not an expert, but my 70 Challenger also shows both codes

I have a theory that package cars that had a racing mirror on the driver's side may have gotten the G36 to "add" the passenger mirror only.

G32/G34 VS G36 is related to the production date

Mine has just G36.  Later build.

Thanks! This is key information. I am going to go through my fender tags for both 1970 Challenger and Barracuda and see if I can narrow down the SPD timeframe where G36 started to appear versus G32 & G34 together.
Additionally, I have not seen a G37 for the dual-chrome mirrors yet.

I never realized that tip of odd vs even being chrome or painted.....good way to remember it... :worship:

So here is what I have figured out for 1970 E-Bodies with dual mirror codes appearing on fender tags.
1970 Challenger with dual painted mirrors:
Cars with an SPD before 1/1/1970 have both G32 and G34 on the fender tag.
Cars with an SPD on or after 1/1/1970 have G36 on the fender tag and window sticker. G36 - RACING MIRRORS - LEFT REMOTE - RIGHT MANUAL - COLOR KEYED

1970 Challenger with dual chrome mirrors:
The entire production year used G31 and G33 on the fender tag and on the window sticker.
No cars had G37 on their fender tag. I did not find G37 on any of the 1970 fender tags and theorize this code is for a later model year.

1970 Barracuda/Cuda with dual painted mirrors:
The entire production year used G36 on the fender tag and window sticker. G36 - RACING MIRRORS - COLOR KEYED
No cars had G32 and G34 on their fender tag or window sticker.

1970 Barracuda/Cuda with dual chrome mirrors:
The entire production year used G31 and G33 on the fender tag.
No cars had G37 on their fender tag. I did not find G37 on any of the 1970 fender tags and theorize this code is for a later model year.

And I also noticed that there were a lot of E-Bodies that came with no mirror code on the fender tag which means they received the plain, chrome oval style mirror.

This has been a question that I've had regarding no mirror codes on fender tag or build sheet. Not sure if the above info applies to '71 also. I have '71 with A22 package which was to include racing mirrors, but I have 1 plain chrome oval.

@MoparCarGuy is this true for both mfg plants?
I do not have as many E - Los Angeles fender tags in my image collection as I do for B - Hamtramck but I did not see anything different about mirror code for the LA fender tags.

I checked the 1970 Price Bulletin (Revised March 2, 1970) and the A22 - Elastomeric Front & Rear Bumper Grp shows the G36 - Mirrors-Racing-Left Outside Remote Control And Right Manual -Color Keyed as part of the group. I would imagine 1971 models also had the dual mirrors as part of the A22 bumper group.

The answers for your car are on the broadcast sheet, if you have it.
I also reviewed my 1971 fender tags and noted that every A21 and A22-coded Cuda also had the G36 dual-painted racing mirrors as would be expected.
See attached 1971 HemiCuda fender tag and broadcast sheet with A22 and G36 coded on both.

Do you have a Barracuda or a Challenger? I was guessing a Cuda since Challenger elastomeric are extremely rare.
Can you post your 1971 fender tag and broadcast sheet?

WOW, that would be a glitch in the "matrix"  -  should have had G36 from the factory

another   oddity: many AAR'cudas with A21/A22 only have the A53 STANDARD LH painted mirror "G34"

the single LH painted mirror was discontinued for 1971 - ONLY available as a pair - "G36"

I have  a 71 Cuda,  A22 with no mirror code on tag, and dual chrome  mirrors.
Have not bothered to check build sheet yet, as it's filed away.
Definitely factory

There are no Outside mirror codes on Fender tag or Build sheet. A22 on both Fender tag & Build sheet though. There are a lot of glitches on this cuda, so I am not surprised, a Monday build.
