After seeing ec-co's 3D printed tags I thought about doing something and would like some input. The picture is what I came up with and what I know the car originally came with. It's a pretty basic 1970 Barracuda convertible.

Things I don't know:
Would it be a 2,3 or 4 row tag? Would the codes be in a row or have blank spaces between some? What position would they be in?

Would collapsible wheel (W34), power steering (S77), front sway bar(S31) be on it. It also had a manual left mirror (?) and probably regular hubcaps (?).

I tried to find samples of a low optioned tag, here and on the web without any luck. So, any info from the board's experts would be appreciated. TIA

John. It looks like tags are printed from the bottom up. When I first got my car I studied it while going through the order pages. I looked at groups to see what was in each one to see if that fit what my car has/had. That was how I determined my car had A01. Then I looked at A04. It didn't fit that group. I contined from there but I would never have all of the numbers or codes. I could come close. I had a totally wrong one made for mine from a guy on FB. It just says "special order". The next line reads "non-production vehicle". On the bottom line it has the VIN on the RH side. I did it just for fun :) It's been to a couple of show where it does strike up a conversation. I painted it car colour.....Joe

My car just came with what I posted & edited onto the image. Factory things have been changed and added to the way I liked. I get people saying, "your car's pretty highly optioned" and I'm forever telling what it actually was built as and what's changed. The 3D tag will help with that. I want the top 2 lines that are on the image printed on it as well.

Jay Bee

Not having the original fender tag or broadcast sheet this is the final rendition I came up with after more Googling. I'm 99.9% sure this is all that would have been on the fender tag. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or input? Maybe replace the "X's" with some text, but I thing the top 2 lines have that covered.

RE: Would collapsible wheel (W34), power steering (S77), front sway bar(S31) be on it. It also had a manual left mirror (?) and probably regular hubcaps (?)  - None of those on a fender tag.

EW1 is white paint - it should be V3W for white convertible top
C55 would come after V3W. And before P37

H4FW not available on a convertible. This is the buddy seat / bench.
H6FW if it is a green and white bucket interior or H6XW for white and black bucket interior

Does ths car have it's door sticker?
Will help with SPD

Does the car have a console or is it column shift?
Would add "C16"  if console

Does it have power steering?
Could possibly add "A04" to fender tag ?

Does it have a remote mirror or manual?
Remote would add a "G##" code and possibly "A04" to fender tag

Does it have variable wipers with electric squirters or 2spd and manual squirters?
Variable would add "J25" and possibly "A04"

Thanks Skdmark for the corrections. I'll definitely make those changes.

The door sticker is an educated guess with the help from cuda hunter and the good people at ECS.
The car originally came with column shift, left manual mirror, & standard dash w/2 speed.

John

PS, just read up on "A04", doesn't look likely.

Thanks again @Skdmark. I should have read the scads of info I went through more carefully, so glad you caught my "top" and "interior" mistakes. Also, that you put them in the right order for me. Everything you supplied was exactly what I was lookin for.

EDIT Replaced picture with the changes to the row of "X's".

Where are you getting it made John? I've thought of doing the same thing.

Glad I could help out. Besdes the reference library here, Hamtramck Historical is a good resource for looking up factory sales and option info. If it is a Y07 Canadian spec the VON portion would begin with either a "B" or "C"

@Jay Bee your convertible has a green dash & carpet with white seats & door panels?  significantly RARE interior

your line of XXXXs would be "318 Cxxxxx"

Jay Bee

@6bblgt I'll switch the first bank of 3X's to 318 and put a C at the start of the second bank of 6X's.

Yes, after owning the car for a few months I discovered what you said, green dash pad & carpet with white seats and door panels. BUT, all the green and door panels were rattle can spray painted black when I bought the car. I saw the white from a scratch when rolling up the window. Then pulling up the seats there was green carpet material under them. Buddy didn't even bother to remove the seats, there was overspray on them.

I just kept the black and white theme, there were very little options back in 1980/81.

PS: thanks for the added info

I didn't have SPD when I did mine, so I made SPD and sequence number be my birthdate: 731 001958

Just an example of a small optioned fender tag.

Jay Bee,  You will need to add M21 to your codes.

Most likely didn't come with C55 bucket seats.
Being a convertible and having a column shifter it would have probably been a bench seat.
Also with C55 is usually C16 console.

Were there console brackets welded from factory on the floor board?
