I don't have my build sheets, and I know the Luggage Racks were commonly installed at the Dealers, but was wondering if the Luggage Rack was ordered, it would definitely show up on the Fender Tag (code M91) ?

Mine came with a rack when I bought it in 1984, but not sure it was ordered from the factory

I first saw this convertible in 1975 and it had a factory luggage rack .
it was not coded on the fender tag.
When I bought the car in 1981 and located the build sheet in the car I noticed the luggage rack was not coded there either.
I was fortunate enough to find and talk to the original owner who ordered the car in 1969 and he said he did not order that 'baggage rack' as he called it and was disappointed when he went to pick up the car but reluctantly still took it.
There is a possibility that another red 70 Cuda was on the lot with a luggage rack and a potential buyer did not want that car with the rack.
In theory the dealership  could have switched complete decklids to ensure the sale of the first one before the convertible owner came in to pick up his car.
That is what happened to the sunroof 71 Hemi Challenger that at one time Steven Juliano ( RIP ) owned.
It had a wing on the decklid that was not coded on the sheet or tag.
After speaking with that cars selling dealership owner, he told Steven he really liked wings and swapped another orange Challenger decklid with wing onto the sunroof car when both were brand new on the lot.
In my case all the correct hardware and retainers, etc on the decklid appeared it was not a dealer added option but was there from day one.
I'd love to hear from other owners who have a luggage rack but isn't coded M91 to see if it may have been a factory oversight on occasion.

My 1970 has a factory luggage rack and M91 on the fender tag.

Both the 70 sunroof cars I restored had M91 on the tags...I thought about a luggage rack on my resto-mod, but I don't think people like them  :looney:

My Challenger had a luggage rack in 76 when the previous owner bought it, not coded on the FT, no B/S, I put it back, on a vert I like them...

Very interesting on the red vert.

OK, so looks like M91 should be on the tag if ordered from factory.

I also have a vert, and it does look good on verts, so I will probably put it back on since the original owner probably had it installed at the dealer (after finding a place to get it rechromed - won't be cheap).

I think many verts have the rack due to much less space in the vert trunks !!

This is partially related;  I'm second owner of a 70 challenger vert A66 B5 with a wing.  The wing is not on the tag but I have the receipt for its installation by the original dealer.  $30 for the spoiler, $5 to install it, with no plates.

What is related I have a 70 RT Challenger vert F4 and the code is on the tag.

And I had, https://customplatingspecialist.com/ rechrome it price was not too bad.

I also have a repop from PG as well I'm willing to part with as well as perhaps a rechromed rack and I think I have all the parts except for maybe a few small pieces.

Also have the deck lid which was dipped and primed.
