That was a lot of money in 1980

I bought a 1970 Challenger RT/SE 383 for $1,000 in 1977 drove for 2 years and sold it for 1500

That was a ton of money back in 1980, quite awhile before values skyrocketed.

The one ad I'll always remember was in the fall of 1986. Someone advertised in Auto Trader (near Acworth, GA) a 1970 Shaker Hemi Cuda for $8,500. Never saw the car in person so who knows what condition it was in, but still.

RUNCHARGER

Ha: There was a black 71, HemiCuda 4 speed advertised in the Seattle Buy and Sell for months on end for $10k around 1985. It didn't sell for quite awhile and at that time it wasn't old enough to legally bring back to Canada. Another great memory is all that one is. I would still have that one.

I guess the question is how good a friend is he?

I've heard a similar situation where a friend thought he had a direct lead on a Cuda, the friend bought it and flipped it.

Oopsie!

He's a true friend. I just found him his next project. He is retired and a car guy though and through. Doesn't need the money.

A rust free 1971 340 4spd shaker car, complete numbers matching but needing a restoration is a $50K+ car all day long.

You can make that USD or CDN which ever you like. :alan2cents:

:iagree:  That car, if its as clean as u mention ? even with non mathing numbers is easy 30k easy!! At 50k matching is a deal and a half!   :alan2cents:
