This is for sale somewhat close to me, interested for a modified race car type build. But the frame picture is very scary to say the least. Do they sell patches for the rails? How bad is this to repair? I've requested some more photos to see the extent of the rest of the rot. What do you think it's worth? Guy is asking 2k...

If it's too far gone, what's it worth as a parts car?

Cuda Cody

Big dollar car, yes it could be saved.  But on a 72 (as much as I wish it was different) I don't think you should take it on.  You're money ahead to start with a better (more solid) car.  :alan2cents:

That's what I figured. Broke my heart when I saw that swiss cheese frame rail

It all depends on your skill level.  If you can do the metal replacement yourself, it makes a car like this more attractive.  They make patch sections for the frame rail...they also make full frame rail replacements.

If your wanting to build a race car, have it back halved.  All that bad metal will be cut out and replaced.  It's a non issue at that point.

The entire bottom side, rear of the car can be had for $1200.  As stated, if you can do the work, it isn't that expensive.

I agree with Burdar, for a race car it would make more sense to do a tube chassis.

Just talked to the guy. Rails from front to back are shot, floors are shot. Has full interior and dash. If the rails are replaced, do you need to keep the car on a jig and completely straight/level when you cut out the old and weld in the new?

I was going to say just do a back 1/2 frame , perfect for a pro street / pro touring or race car but if the front frame is rotten too , you could rebuild the whole factory chassis or do a tube frame chassis for it , my Cuda was a full tube frame only steel part was the roof & 1/4s probably cheaper to buy a roof panel & new 1/4 & hang them on a tube chassis .
As far as fixing it no way I would ,  too long a road  .

Candidate for a Art Morrison chassis to build a pro-touring Mopar. Scharwtz Performance chassis won't work in this case.
