Can someone tell me how much a 67 B-body rear is worth...I'm looking to buy. I found one that is just the housing and axles but I don't want to over-pay obviously  . WIW?    :dunno:

Housing and axle shouldn't be very much.  I think $100 is fair.  If it's got a sure grip and a good gear then you might add another $300 to $400.

I'll have to try beat him down a bit. Thanks guys!

$100 sounds fair all right, they aren't around like they used to be though.

:iagree:  Difficult to find parts for reasonable price nowadays.

Do some research and verify the length of that housing before you buy.  I thought one of those years had an odd length housing...maybe not.  $100 is the very most I would spend.  It depends on the condition of the spring perches.  Some I've seen were rusted very thin.  Also, have a look at the axle bearings.  Do they look decent or are you going to have to replace them.  If they have been sitting in the dirt/mud, I might try to get them cheaper.

The last two 8 3/4's I got were for free.  They were C-body length though.  I just bought a car from the guy. He had a pile of 8 3/4 housings he was going to take to the scrap yard but prices were very low.  I might try and go buy a couple off of him just to have for future projects.  If he was going to get scrap price for them anyway, maybe he'd let them go for $25 or something.

Around here people are asking $400-$600.... Or more.... I don't know if anyone is buying, I sure won't....

Yes: $400 for an old housing and it's time to buy a new S60 and be done with it.

I paid $150 complete from drum to drum and an open 741 center.

The thing about B body axles is that they are the most plentiful of Mopar axles from that time period. Think about all the B body based vehicles there were compared to A's E's C's etc.

Plymouth, dodge, Chrysler
Coupes, convertibles, sedans, wagons, the list is plentiful.

So let's rattle off a few nameplates:

Charger
Coronet
Coronet wagon
Coronet convertible
Coronet hard top post
Superbee
Satellite coupe
Satellite sedan
Satellite wagon
Roadrunner
GTX
Belvedere
Belvedere sedan
Belvedere wagon

A true 1967 housing and axles is not the same as the 68-70 b-body

65-67 are a stand alone rear. Narrower than the 68-70 B and little wider than A-body.

I thought I got a good deal on one at Spring Fling a few years back for $150 drum to drum with center section but no shock plates.

I think around here a 65-67 would be around $150-200 at a swap meet for axles and housing. Add $100 non swap price.

Those are desirable since the 62-64 B-body max wedge clone guys want them because they are about the same width, same perch width, but don't have tapered axle as the stock 62-64 rears do.

AND the A-body guys can use them with a little more backspacing rear rims. The perches are only ~1" wider so some people just drop them in an a-body pushing the spring out a little. This way an A-body guy gets an 8 3/4 with big bolt pattern. As opposed to buying an a-body 8 3/4 rear that is still small bolt pattern that's going for $500-600+ drum to drum open rear.

Spring Fling April 2024 Woodley Park, Van Nuys CA, 600+ Mopars, 175+ all Mopar swap, Malibu Cruise, Mopar Cruise-In: www.cpwclub.com Date comming...

Great info. I hadn't thought about them possibly being used in an A-body. Thanks!
