I do have front and rear strut braces and running 295 at the back. They helped but not much I can do with the weight. Not going to toss the rear seat or the sound system. Unlike the RTs, the SRT adaptive suspension is not that simple to be replaced with adjustable coilovers. I sat in a few other newer Challengers including Hellcats. They all felt about the same when pushing through corners at speed. I have not try the widebody Redeye yet. My coworkers 911 4S at 1200 lbs lighter corners at a much higher level but I much prefer the exhaust notes of my Challenger.

KW makes an adjustable coilover setup to allow you to adjust ride height on the SRT Challengers without sacrificing the stock adaptive shocks. I'm told the widebody cars handle better, but I see no reason why a standard body car couldn't be modified beyond what they can do. You might be surprised with how your car responds with those lowering springs and some subframe connectors, maybe some bigger sway bars, and maybe some delrin bushings if you want to go all the way.

I'm *really* hoping the next gen Challenger is a little bit lighter and slightly smaller though, and makes use of an aluminum engine block. Chevy has been doing aluminum blocks for their performance cars for nearly 2 decades, I see no reason why Dodge can't do the same. It would do a lot for weight distribution.

Yeah, I'm not much for 2 seat European cars. If I want a 2 seat sports car, I'm buying a Corvette, which I've also considered. Nothing out there beats the sound and feel of an American V8. And when it comes to having a daily driver, it's no contest between the Challenger and the Porsche.

Here is what I did....

Hope it helps you decide.  The stock "design" can be made to work really well IMO  biggest issue with the factory set up is bump steer. Get that dialed in and with some better , torsion bars, sway bars, brakes and tires and I'd bet you would be happy. I haven't found an aftermarket set up that I'd trade my set up for yet.  Some of them have has catastrophic failures so do your homework first before you buy :alan2cents:

Yeah, I'm thinking going with upgraded stock-style stuff is probably my best bet and fits in line with my theme of modern technology with relatively stock appearance. I really like the ride height your setup is at with those 18" wheels! I personally probably wouldn't have the wider tires in front and I'd choose black rims versus silver, but you've got something close to what I want to end up with.

Also, question about engine weight and weight distribution. If I go with a 440/496 stroker with as many aluminum parts as I can get without going to an aluminum block, what kind of engine weight and weight distribution can I expect? I believe in stock form the 440 weighs around 620 pounds with iron everything.

I weighted mine quite a few years ago .... if this helps you?

Total Weight: wo/ w driver? : 3611Lbs ( without driver- full tank of fuel)     3881 with driver full fuel tank
4 corner weights if possible:  LF 1021             RF 1039                                  LF 1126    RF 1061

                                           LR 771              RR 779                                   LR 873      RR 822

Got engine weight from here... "Low deck 470ci big block, all aluminum except block and with 7 quarts oil = 519 lbs "

Modern vs upgraded has been debated numerous times. At the risk of sounding cranky, I won't repeat my typical response here but suggest you browse a few of those older postings.

Time, money, resale, desired goals, and a number of other considerations are all factors in this decision.

If you're building an all out restomod why not go with a Gen III Hemi? Take a look at this aftermarket aluminum block.

Should mate up nicely with a 6-speed

He si planning to buy a Modern Chall also with the Gen 3 Hemi so wanted something different for the oldschool build

I think the 911 seats four, may be kids at the back. It is a low 11s car and people daily drive it. It is not for me though. I much rather get into a newer Viper if I want a sport car. Corvettes are ok but a Mopar is always my first choice.
