Anyone familiar with these foam gaskets on the backside of backing plates? Can you still get them?

I know they were available when I did my car years ago-check with Year One.

This first link is through eBay, but you could also buy them directly from Detroit Muscle Technologies (2nd link).   DMT makes good stuff based on my experience.

I can tell you that DMT does not have that specific gasket, I emailed and spoke with Jim last week regarding that specific gasket for the front 11" drum he said in 20+ years no one has asked for that one, the one he offers is for the more common oval rear style like in the picture below. He just sent me two 3"x 3" squares of .090 poly foam to make my own.

I've taken apart a lot of cars and never found proof of that gasket. Just last month I took apart the rear brakes on the original owner AAR Cuda...owner (member SYDWAS) said he never had the rear drums off in 48 years...and I didn't find those gaskets.

For years I made my own and put them there because I thought they were on all cars, but I haven't found any lately so I stopped. :dunno:

The original poster was asking about the front drum brake spindle gasket, not the inner/outer rear axle gaskets.

I don't think FelPro makes the gaskets were talking about in this thread, do they ? :dunno:

After re-reading the original post I see you were referring to the foam wheel cylinder gasket not the spindle gasket.... Here are the ones I just received from DMT sorry if I caused any confusion. :dunno:

Awesome, Thanks everyone interestingly enough that foam looks exactly like the foams you find for underlayment on floating flooring like pergo type floors. Thought about making my own but will just buy the ready made.
