I have a leaking power brake booster in my Cuda that needs replacement.   On the one hand it looks pretty straightforward,  but accessing the four bolts way under the dash looks very challenging.

I'm hoping that someone else has done this repair and can share that experience with me in order to avoid making mistakes dur to inexperience with this repair.

Thanks

I replaced the power brake booster on my 70 Challenger last fall. It's not too difficult, just a little awkward.  The first think you need to do is remove the steering wheel and the driver's seat.  That will allow you to get on your back under the dash.  You will have to remove the hardware that connects the brake pedal to the brake booster. Take a photo of it before you start removal to make it easier when you start putting things back together.  Once you do that you will have better access to the 4 nuts/bolts that hold the booster to the firewall.

Here's a photo from my FSM which you may find useful.

I replaced my booster 15 years ago on the Cuda. I was able to change it without removing the seat or steering wheel, actually I never even considered that option. I just laid on my back and reached up to the 4 bolts and said a few hail Mary's.

You didn't say anything about changing your master cylinder.  It was recommended to me that both, booster and M/C are changed at the same time.  So, that's what I did.

One tip to keep in mind is the rod length that comes out of the booster that presses into the master cylinder. Try to adjust it to nearly the same length as your old one.

If the rod length is too long it will press on the master cylinder and it will apply your brakes without pushing on your brake pedal. If the rod length is too short the brakes will be soft.
