Rear spring replacements

About to order up some replacement leaf springs.  The originals look pretty good but being near 50 years old I fear they may not cut the mustard much further down the road.  I am on the fence as to buying stock height or going a inch higher.   I will be using the stock 14" wheels all the way around and intend to use the same sized tires, regardless of profile size on front and rear.   I am concerned that with taller springs it might look goofy back there because of a 1' bigger gap in the wheel well.  Any insight and/or photos to share about this?

I'd go stock especially with 14" wheels. That's what I did. Sits pretty nice in the back. Any higher could look a little off.

By your photo I am inclined to do that; there is enough gap there already.  Thanks  :bigthumb:

if you go 1" higher it is easy to lower it with blocks or shims , stock height is much more difficult to raise

You can order in 1/2" increments FYI.

Just so happens that ESPO is who I have been talking to and will buy from.
Their sales rep "Laura" is very helpful and quick to respond all things considered with viruses and such.

That what I used on that car. I put Mopar performance springs on my 71 and it sits real low. I prefer the higher look.

I have heard they have issues with sagging right out of the box.  Don't know if that was in your case though; just what I have heard.

Yep, pretty low from the start.

MP springs have made in Mexico painted on them , every set I have use start out oo low & sag with in weeks , I have added 1 extra full leaf to them to get them to sit right .
I Would by from Espo , good products & customer service as you have learned .
I would buy + 1 or at least 1/2 & you can easily shim down if needed to get the loo you want  :alan2cents:

I second about the quick response from Laura at Espo , emailed for quote last night and had reply 1st thing in the morning.

I just finished installing espo +1 yesterday. With a 275/40/17 tire i measure about 25 
1/2 inches from ground to fender edge. They should end up settling a bit lower. Mancini racing also sells front spring brackets that have two sets of mounting holes. So you can go higher or lower by changing which hole you mount the spring to. I am using the lower hole.
