I picked up a complete rear sway bar set up with the last e body I bought. I was hoping to use it on my barracuda but wasn't sure on frame attaching.

So to confirm, the frame rail brackets get held on with large screws as opposed to through bolting?
That is correct. Self-tapping screws (four per frame bracket) and not much framerail metal thickness add up to stripped out holes. Be careful tightening the bolts.

How do I know exactly where the brackets locate on the frame rails?

I was thinking of loading the car normally with the sway bar attached to the end links, then marking the resting point where the brackets line up. Figuring the sway bar would remain unloaded until the car pitched in some way forwards or sideways.

Does that seem about right?

Check for factory dimples on the framerails. I don't remember if they are there on all cars, some cars, or no cars but take a look. You may be surprised to see them.
