Steering column/ crush can question

I'm almost done rebuilding the column for my 73 Challenger. I can't get the crush can down far enough. It lined up with the splines but it seems to be an eighth of an inch from going all the way in. What am I doing wrong? Should I try an impact wrench?

Picture?  There is a slight gap between the can and the column when it's installed correctly.

Well, looking at the picture you posted, I might not have a problem. I was using Cody's video to go by. There's not as much gap on his. Mine is about like your post.  Thanks
