Hi All,

Could anyone please recommend some rear leaf springs that can increase the rear height of an E body?  I'm after more rake to the car, to give it that 70s look.  I want to try and avoid using shackles.  Would T/A  / AAR springs be any good?

I have a 1970 340 and the current leaf springs on my car have sunk.  Here's a photo:

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

They don't look sagged to me at all. But you are not soliciting opinions..lol

Also recognize that you are not looking for opinions, but I think the stance on your Challenger looks just about perfect.  I also love the wheels.  That is a great looking car! :bradsthumb:

I agree with SpringsnThings... great customer service.

Thank you for the recommendation.  I was told the rear leaf springs had sagged, that was the reason my car is grounding on speed humps.

I also wouldn't mind jacking the back up anyway, to get that Dick Landy Challenger stance.

Try slowing down?  :burnout:

My collectors tap the odd speed bump. Maybe they are bigger in the UK?

Be forewarned...if you raise the rear a couple inches, it will handle quite a bit differently. Not sure if an alignment will be needed or not.

@Mark_B

I like those wheels too, are they Torque Thrust?
What size tire / wheel combo do you have?

A painless solution is to swap our your rear shocks with air adjustable shocks...like Monroe Max-Air adjustable.    I have them on my Challenger and can easily add more air to raise rear 1-2 inches...

The E-body cars were low in the rear when they were new. The "stink bug" stance popular back then was done the cheapest way possible then. Air shocks and extended shackles were very popular and very bad for handling, chassis damage. To get a slightly taller rear stance the proper way, get new rear leaf springs and order them with a taller arch. The spring company will ask the proper questions. New shock absorbers and a complete alignment after your mods would be in order as any changes to the height of the vehicle will change the alignment settings. I have attached pictures of what happens when you try to use the shock mounts( which are not designed to carry any weight) to support the vehicle using any type of air or coil over shock device.

Find a Reputable spring shop and have them disassemble your factory leaf springs and re-arch your main spring then reassemble. My 1971 340 springs ("044") have a 6 1/2" arched main spring from the factory according to my local spring shop (Stuver Spring) he could have gone more if I would have wanted them to that would have given the springs more lift, Do not add Air shocks !!!! This was my crossmember after years of someone running Air Shocks to compensate for bad leaf springs.

Those

This is Espo 2 inch over stock springs. They have been on for 8 years so I think there settled in. Also 275-60-15 tire.

Thanks for your help guys and for confirming the ride height is ok.  I'll keep the car as it is for the time being, the 70s stance can wait.

Much appreciated.

They're 15x8 Torq Thrust Classics on the rear with 255/60/15s and 15x7 Torq Thrust D's on the front with 225/60/15s.

I like the way they fit, looks great.

I think it could up 1" or so and look better....but if you asked me, the whole car is low...maybe 1" in the front and 2" in the rear...
