Yep. Cautious will be an understatement.
It is running but not drivable. No boost yet. EFI next then plumbing for cold side.

Figured out the occasional start issue. As we all know, there are 2 circuits for start and run. My old switch must have been sloppy enough for the wiring to be powered at same time long enough for it to start.
New switch did its job and separated the power.
Occasional starts were only when the heavens collided properly with spark and rotation.
Right now is a simple hotwire bypass but will address properly with the other pending improvements.
Now to focus on cam signal for the MS.

Pictoral updates are minimal as most is wiring. Stripped out most all the add on wiring I previously installed as it was too convoluted.
Rewiring again simpler with a fuse and relay block under dash.
Tapped into the brown and blue column wires for ignition. It will power 3 relays. One each for ECU, coils, injectors and fuel pump.
Tapped into black column wire that will eventually handle all accessory powering.
De-pinned unused wires from EFI harness.
Loosened top of dash and pulled defroster ducting.
Mounted Vintage Air unit to assess available real-estate.
When working alone I called on "Jack" to help align screw holes when reattaching it.

I don't actually mind wiring once you get your mind into the zone. Good job as always. Can hardly wait for the first drive I bet.

Overall I agree. Wiring has to be the singular project until the end.
When it is all custom, it is impossible to come back and pick up 6 months later.

No wiring pic but I test fired it again with updated starting relay setup. Started and ran as expected. But fuel pump would not shutoff when keyed off.
Megasquirt cuts off the relay ground signal. Ignition relay cuts off proper but not fuel. Tied grounds for both relays to same kill wire.
Going to change it to where Ms triggers one relay and that relay triggers the next one (fuel pump). That is how it was wired previously.

Also disassembled passenger side to fix significant oil leak.
My fault as I n eglected to tighten the vc bolts. :Thud: :pullinghair:

Gratuitous turbo shot but overall no real visual progress.
Rewired the ignition setup cleaner.
Depinned the right side bulkhead connector.
Only wires necessary are starter relay, alt and regulator.
Have test fired it up after every change to confirm all is well.
Pulled passenger side header to replace vc gasket to fix a serious leak. Dumb mistake on my part.
With the rewiring, focus is back to injectors and hopefully the elusive cam signal.

Minimal disassembly today.
Work on house taking priority.
Rewiring and relocating the headlight wiring for eventual cold air intake.
Sometimes you have to break out the big guns.
Also relocating electric fan controller. Making room for a filter box.

Unfortunately no luck with correcting cam signal. Decision made to move forward with running it in semi sequential and wasted spark. Not nearly as efficient but does allow to run without cam signal.
Removed carb and am rerouting fuel lines.
Pulled the injectors that have been in the intake ports and unused. Made a fixture to test function. Some were slow to start but eventually cleaned out and functioned proper.
Mounting of throttle body, wiring for TPS and idle air valve in process.

In addition to the monotonous stuff I am also working in some fun stuff.
Considering cold air intake using inside two headlight buckets.
Tube is transition from light bucket to pass thru core support 2"x4" opening. I relocated the wiring alre!dy. Will need to make same rectangle opening on passenger side.
Plan is to 3D print it. If printing fails, a friend has offered to wrap one in carbon fiber.
High on "fun" part. Low on necessity part.
