So I came across, and purchased, another 1971 340 R/T which supposedly is a one owner (two if you count the son who recently inherited it on blocks) and a long time friend of my father. Supposedly the engine is matching numbers but it has no build sheet or fender tag because all that was removed when it got a repaint 20 years ago after the left side fender got bumped by someone backing up. Since my wife has laid claim to it and there are a few parts that just don't jive with the year model (steering wheel is a two spoke, has 70 stick shifter) we decided to go the route of a light RestoMod. As I posted yesterday in a "body" question, the plan is to get a color similar to Ford's Gulf Stream Aqua-- which yyz and skdmark pointed out is similar to 69 LL1 and Q5-- and do it up in a way something like these pictures I roughed over. Obviously I used a really early version of photoshop called color markers and a copier machine on these. Lol. I know many of you guys may not like the hood design but my wife wanted something a little different. It will look pretty stock for the most part but I'm going to update the air, breaks, exterior led light mods, stereo (basically the standard stuff) I plan on posting updates as I go along....major learning curves ahead so I will seriously need help throughout (first real diy).

Here are pics of the color I'm shooting for...and then my cruddy mock up. Lol

The plan on the hood would be to have the hood painted black with a matte black decal on the grey-ish parts (but will also have gloss black accents lines).

Ill eventually get a better mock up made and take some pics of the car as it is now to go on here soon.

I'm looking at your mock-up pics. In one of them, I notice that you have a 71 R/T stripe and a 70 bumblebee stripe. My advice: Both of them together are just too much. Pick one only. I like both stripes, and I put the bumblebee on my 73. Adding the strobes also would have been too much.

Cool project. I have seen that type of hood treatment before and IN MY OPINION it looks bad. Just putting in my  :alan2cents:

I think it looks a little too busy with three colours, side stripes and the bumble bee stripe is a little too much as well IN MY OPINION

I love the colour choice...kudos to your wife :worship:

No worries, I appreciate all the input. I more less agreed about how busy the hood would look. That's mainly why I hadn't went to Photoshop yet-- plus I was at work and sketching is more fun when your on the clock. Lol.

The option my really wanted to go with in the first place was a shaker hood setup but as neither of my cars had one (and I am completely unfamiliar with those) I tried to steer her to work with what we have. I know I sound like a complete newb, but what would be needed for me to go to the shaker setup with the standard 340 4bbl?

Everything is available in the aftermarket to add a shaker set-up to a 340. Keep in mind it will add about $3500.00 to $4000.00 to the budget. :bigmoney: :alan2cents:  The best source for Shaker set-up is a member here Tommy The Chryco https://www.tommythechryco.ca/

Yikes... Lol. I may have to sell the Harley just to get her car done. I appreciate all the info guys. Guess I better start budgeting that in.
