Working on inner fender well to remove undercoat.
Heat, scrape, heat, scrape, heat, wire brush, wipe with brake cleaner, repeat.

That undercoat really protect the metal. You definitely can see what was missed and how the rust takes over.

Not a pleasant job but rewarding.

Been there, done that - have the burn marks to prove it. I found a 2" wide metal scraper worked pretty well to remove the material after it's been heated.

If you're going to replace it, RestoRick sells a product that works really well.  I bought the special spray gun from Harbor Freight.

Those are some pretty cool front shocks  :)

Question for those of you that have gone this far:
Factory correct would be to prime- spray color, tape off, spray undercoating.

I'm planning on driving this car and someday passing to my son.

Should I just seal with primer sealer and then spray with a tinted raptor liner?

PS rear shocks match the front shocks.

Where do want the raptor liner?  @GoodysGotaCuda usd some on the inside of his fenders and inside of his trunk so he can actually enjoy his car.  Maybe he can chime in.  I usedsome type of raptor liner but it wasn't called that on the inside of my wheel wells for long-term use myself.  It's quieter and will hopefully protect the paint job if something gets flipped up in there.

Raptor Liner is over kill.   :alan2cents:

Maybe if you're driving salt roads all the time...then yeah.

35 years after removing under coating, revealing clean, shiny metal.

Made a set of rear dolly's. Turned out a little higher than planned. Now to make the front set.

Too high is better than too low !!

Especially since I'n not getting skinnier.
Had the material laying around only had to purchase casters.

Don't know why I waited so long.

Brake Cleaner: Highly flammable, bad vapors, worth avoiding.

Heat gun & scraper: too slow and tedious.

Harbor Freight Weed burner wand hooked to a 5 Gal. Propane....Whoa!
Stand back! Learn it. It can get going way too fast, too hot.
