Many things to do today we pulled the dash. Harder than I thought. Wondering if it's better to pull the steering wheel all the way out or are the 2 studs removable to make it easier? We took the bolts for the steering wheel out attbe firewall and the 2 studs under. Then had to push down on the wheel and wedge the bottom of the dash out.
What is the correct way to do this?

Now that dash is out what should we be looking for to replace / repair? We know we need to go through the harness and check all the wiring out anything else?

Double nut the studs & unscrew them... And pull the column... Why fight it?

Put the pad on the dash frame along with all the wiring & gauges before you reinstall it..

If you're putting one or more modern speakers in the dash, you'll need to do some surgery on the metal under the speaker(s) to accommodate the larger magnets.  Best to do that while the dash is out.

Not sure if you have an auto or manual trans.  Manuals came with a reverse light mounted on the dash next to the ash tray.   My car was converted from an auto by a prior owner, but there was no light.  After adding the light, I've found it to be a really good/needed upgrade.

There are a number of members here who have used LED bulbs for the dash lights around the gauge cluster and elsewhere.  Again, best to make that change while the dash is out.
