Hi guys. I believe late 1971 E body cars got bumpers with jack slots. Is that true? And is there an spd when that began? TIA

Is there anyone here with an untouched late 71 that can post pics of their slotted bumpers?
Friendly disagreement here 😂😂

Quite a few things changed in late 71.

Bumper jack slots
flat door handles instead of concave/convex
blue 340's
black steel wheels instead of body color

I've also heard 72-74 steering wheels in late 71 also but have seen no proof.

1971 was actually a pretty interesting year for Challengers, because so much changed over the course of the year.  Early in the year some items were carryovers from '70 that were later changed (eg trunk floors).  Later in the year many cars were loaded with options as they were trying to use up parts for options that wouldn't be available in '72.
Doing a ground up restoration on a basket case '71 has to be a Challenge because figuring out what was correct is often not well documented.
My October built '71 has cuda style leather seats, someone on one of the forums researched that area once and concluded the cuda seats were used until some time in December, that is the only info I've seen verifying my seats are correct.  There are many other examples like that.

Thanks. If anyone else has information please post it

Recently bought a '71 Challenger set of OER show quality bumpers from Classic Industries for my '72 Challenger. They came without jack slots as I intended. Surprisingly they were in stock.
