Hi Guys,

I have the bumper diagram but I'm looking for the installation sequence of installing the rear bumper on my 71 Challenger.  For example:

Do the 2 brackets get attached to the car on the bumper first and installed as a unit?
Do the Bumper guards get attached to the Bumper first or after the bumper is installed?

Those types of things.  Just looking for the step by step so I'm not doing double the work.  Let me know.  Thanks

Dave

Assemble the bumper, brackets & guards and install as an assembly....  You might want to leave things slightly loose so you can adjust the bumper side to side though honestly I never, theres enough adjustment in the bolts that attach the brackets to the body to set it normally...  The rear valance goes on after the bumper is mounted....

:iagree:  Pretty easy to get things lined up right if you leave them a little loose and adjust once installed.  Helps to have a buddy give you a hand as it's a little heavy and you don't want to scratch the paint if you don't have to.

Thanks. I figured lots and lots of tape to protect the paint.  Everyone have a happy holiday.

Also, be careful taping over edges of paint.  Sometime when you remove the tape it can pull the paint off.  Always remove tape from edges by pulling the tape towards the edge, not away from it.

Another trick if your taping fresh paint, stick the tape to your shirt/jeans first to kill off some of the stickyness of the adhesive

Great idea thanks.  I was also thinking of putting more tape around the bumper itself and less on the body.
