 Is it a pretty straight over swap or are there some differences to watch out for? Thanks for any input.

What year are you swapping into what year?

71 has the top support plate which has to go, it mounts the hood latch lever so you'll need a 70 hood latch... And the plate that the secondary catch grabs...

Fender/grill mounting holes  are the same, the center latch support works... Valance is the same....

'71 Challenger 318 console auto. Has '70 grill and '71 tail lights. I would prefer all '71 (personal preference) but cost on a '71 grill might do that in. Not going stock with it, probably going for a big block.

Funny thing, back in the late nineties I had two 71 grilles, both complete with the top plate, one was cherry, the other had a small area broken off by the left headlight.... I hauled them to 7-8 swap meets through the years asking $100 for the cherry one & $50 for the broken one.... Finally sold both at MATS around 2006 got $100 for both of them....  Now I see them selling for $$$$... :crying:

I had a 71 tail panel and tail lights from a 71 that I couldn't give away either. Finally sold it all for $100 about two years ago. Nice parts but I guess there are fewer 71s so fewer people doing restos on them.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I like the 71 better than the 70. If I ever change over my 73, I'd probably go for the 71 look

I like the 71 as well but I don't like the tail lights as much.
