Finally getting ready to put the grill back in.  Have the HW kit from Classic Ind.  There are two white plastic parts that I believe the chrome plated screws go into but for the life of me I can't tell where they go?  Grill was out of the car when I got it so I don't have a reference.  Anyone have a pic or description of them in action?

Do I need to completely remove the bumper or can I tilt it down enough to get the grill in?   Header panel can stay in place?

Grill is in but I still don't know where those white plastic parts go.  Most of the other bolts and u nuts aren't getting used either.  There aren't any place for them to go.

the white ones are usually used with the headlight buckets

Just did the grille repaint and install back in November 2018.
Yes, you can tilt the bumper down to install.

You can see from the two photos it doesn't take much tilt it work it in .

Hmmmm.  I'm still at a loss.  I just got the headlight adjuster set too with the spring.  I didn't notice where that white one would go but no matter.  The grill is in securely and I'll worry about the extra parts later.  I always end up with extra parts.

In my opinion, there should be four of them, two in each fender. You should have little square holes in your fenders where the very outside of the headlight bucket trim screws in.

1970 fender, but same idea...

I'll have to check on my spare fenders.  Can't see that area with the grill and headlight trim installed.  But I can tell you, the three screws that hold the headlight trim in go into the grill and there aren't any open holes anywhere else.  Maybe they are for a 72?

Okay....I see your point....Do these secure to the grill or the fender ?

I just confirmed with the 1974 Service manual that you are correct. The three screws attach to the grill and nothing to the fender. So my theory goes out the window... :headbang:

Missed your reply.
As noted, everything mounts to the grill.  If the truth is ever uncovered, I'll have the parts.  But I'm guessing the white plastic pieces were dropped at some point during 72.  Maybe used on early MY72 cars and then dropped?
