Sad mouth...numerous cars have this grill configuration, yet only the Challenger have ever got this title. Never have understood why.
:iagree:
For me, when people say 'sad mouth' I'm thinking the newer Mustangs..not Challengers

These do pop up for sale somewhat regularly here and on other sites.  Odds are fair you can find a decent replacement.

Worst case, fix it. As a fiberglass piece, they are easily repaired.

Showcars makes crap parts. Looking at the header panel that was linked, it doesn't appears it has any studs or bolts in it for mounting, which means you would be doing a lot of fiberglass work to get it to mount. If that's the case, fiberglass your original part that you knw fits.

Thank you... :worship: As the proud owner of a 73 Challenger, I've pointed out to people that the 300 and Shelby have the same basic grill shape, and both are considered a classic design. To me, it's a very muscular looking grill design.

Actually, the trapezoid grill shape is very common and it is still used to this day. Can't say I've ever see any references to these as "sad mouths".

If the studs are gone, you can drill them out on the back side where they enter the fender and epoxy in new pieces of 1/4" fiberglass rod (I bought a 6 ft piece on Amazon for like $15). You can also take it to a boat/rv repair shop and they should be able to fix you up just fine.

I think I've decided to take a shot at fixing it.   I guess I'm going to have to do some picture searching to see what I'm missing and how to repair it from there.    Yet another project to the growing list.

Where are you? I've got some donor headers for comparison and maybe donation.

I'm over by port perry.  That would be great even just to compare to see what it's suppose to look like.  - I'm definitely missing some mount areas.

I say put a 2008-2010 grill in it:

I've only seen one 72-74 Challenger worked over enough to get that grille in there. The 'Shakedown' Challenger has it and it's a '73....but Mopar spent quite a lot to do it. I think that car's total cost was over $200K.

Black out the whole grill and it looks more like a `70 and loses most of the sad mouth.

That was my original plan but I keep flipping back and forth on it.
