Hey everyone,

As mentioned earlier, I removed the longitudinal vinyl stripes from my 70 Challenger and ordered a BumbleBee stencil.

Ideally, the BB stripe is painted on before the clear coat, although that is not the case here as this is a painted and clear coated car that I am adding the BB stripe to it.

My question, what's the best way for a professional painter (not me) to apply the BB stripe and clear coat without having a big edge as it hits the existing paint and clear coat?  Is it possible to wet sand the edges a little or another means or will I be stuck with a distinctive edge, much the same as applying a decal?

Re-clear the trunk lid and quarters with the stripe application.  :alan2cents:

Paint it with single stage and live with a slight edge. IMO  It would look and feel about like a vinyl stripe.

I agree with Shane. Less coats the better.

@RUNCHARGER Looking at your bumblebee stripe while I prepare to put one on my car. Not going with a stencil kit, just going to lay it out. I've seen several different methods to wrap the stripe under the bumper. Is there a correct way to do it? Here are a couple others that I have found.

I bought the shell painted and was told the measurements are exact. However under the bumper is obviously too perfect and I'm not sure it goes like that. I'll look through the original paint photos I have and see if I have any of that spot. To me that white car looks more correct under the bumper but I'm not certain. The factory job would be sloppy for sure no matter what way they did it.

Revisiting the question about the bumblebee stripe wraparound under the bumper. Does this look correct or should it be something different? Anyone have photos of original factory stripes showing this?
