Belt trim molding clips

I just got my original belt line moldings back from being restored. But they don't do anything with the original clips. I don't want to put these rusty clips back under the moldings. I'm trying to figure out what the original plating / coating was from the factory. They look green like it was a copper or brass coating or something. Then did they have a plastic washer and a phosphate coated nut holding them on.

As far as the green coating I would think it's zinc chromate.
