70 Challenger,
My driver's side mirror shakes like a bobble head.
Is there a way to secure/tighten the head part to the base?

Thx

Yes. Take the mirror off of the door and tighten the screw that holds the mirror part to the base.

Thx, I read that but it's a different issue.
Other thread seems to be an issue with the glass.
My problem is the entire head is loose on the base.

Appreciate the constructive reply.

Please let me know what you end up doing to fix this. I can't remember if the screw's head is in behind the mirror (meaning you have to remove the glass) or if it's inside the base/pedestal. Put another way, is it tightened from the top or the bottom.

I never should have given away all my mirrors but for some reason I think it tightens from inside the head.

yes inside base

Thanks Jason, those pictures are exactly what this thread needed.

Actually since the O/P asked about a 70 drivers side mirror & Jason posted a 71-74 passenger side mirror which is completely different I don't see where it was much help to the O/P.... It should help anyone with a 71-74 passenger side mirror....

To the O/P take the mirror off the door (two screws) and tighten the screw inside the base then reinstall the mirror....
You might have to add a lock washer to get the mirror head to tighten up...

Hmmm...interesting. That mirror is off a 70 I owned. I thought it was a 70.

That being said, what I posted is the same as you described,  two screws inside the base.  :dunno:

I believe the 70 mirror only has one screw?? Same principle through...just tighten it up :bigthumb:

Like Alan mentioned one screw holds the mirror head to the mirror base... Two screw mount the mirror base to the body....
These are 70 style mirrors yes they are different from side to side not mirror images..

FWIW the 71 mirror pivot is secured by two screws to the two posts/pads shown in Jason's photo... Those don't exist on a 70 mirror, not a single piece of the 71-74 mirror is the same.....

Great info, really appreciate the help.
Seems like an easy fix I should be able to take care of.
