So about to weld in the firewall/cowl on my 70 Challenger. The old one was so rusted the entire lower windshield section was missing completely. Knowing how far gone it was I ordered the outer A pillar replacements. Now that I'm getting ready to install, I'm wondering if I should have ordered the "windshield corner to cowl" panels instead. I'm honestly not sure about this section. I'll attach pics of what I'm working with, what I already have, and what I think I need.
As you can see in the first pic, there's a large section gone where it curves back and sweeps up to the A pillar but also should go down and sandwich over the inner hinge panel (that part I've cut out myself due to the damage and having the replacement outer A pillar in the second pic). The A pillar piece I have though is just the outer most surface of that section.  Is the panel in the third pic what I need? I think it is but at the same time it looks to occupy the same space as the piece I already have.

Does the part in pic 3 weld to the inner hinge, then the pillar piece I have sandwich over that? Meaning three pieces thick? (Inner hinge panel, the corner to cowl patch, then outer A pillar)

The A-pillars include that "lower patch panel" in your 3rd picture.   That 3rd picture is just meant to be a filler patch if you only have rot in the lower corner, vs rot around the entire window channel from say, a vinyl top.

Vs the patch panels which states 'only use this if you have rust in the lower corners. if you also have rust along the sides, then use part number _________________'

:cool:I think I see what you're saying. It looked to me like there was another layer of metal under the AMD part you linked to for the pillar that the patch panel part had. Like a multi-piece welded together. I went out to the garage again and looked at the pillar pieces I have (pic attached) and it looks like the AMD part. So it's just that piece welded to the lower hinge panel, then the inner cowl panel (mine are not installed yet) supports the piece from underneath? For some reason I thought there was more structure under there that was missing on my car due to how extensive the rust was. I know there's also the braces that go from inner cowl panel to corner of the cowl as well, just not that far along yet.

Just to clarify, the pic below contains the same thing the 3rd pic in my previous post? Thank you for the help!
