Looking for a shop that can remove my older mid panel side decal (70) and install a new top panel side decal (71+) on my 70 Challenger rt in the Dallas area..

GoodysGotaCuda

May reach out to Wards body shop in Krum, TX. He had a mobile guy come to his shop for my side stripe install.

Welcome to the forum @davidhilldallas   :welcome:  Let's see some photos of your car!   :takepicture:   :please:

davidhilldallas

tried to attach in original, lets try again

davidhilldallas

cool attached that time... also have bought rear window leaves (the steel kind that require drilling). Hoping to find a local shop that can do that also..

Sweet!!!   :lookatthat:  Looks really good.  What is making you want to change the side stripe?  I think it looks great as it is.

I agree: The 70 stripe is a winner! Your car though. Welcome from B.C. Canada.

You could probably save a few bucks by peeling of the old stripe yourself ? :dunno: 3M makes a spray-on product called woodgrain remover that softens the decal and doesn't harm the paint.
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

if I'm understanding your original post

you wish to remove the '70 style stripe & replace with a '71 style stripe, correct @davidhilldallas ?

if this is accurate, be aware the fender "Challenger" script emblems were originally mounted with pins for 1970 & will be in the way of the '71 style stripe & the '71 stripe is under the door handles requiring their removal  to be installed correctly

Yes, I did wonder about that. I thought maybe the removal of the challenger emblems might leave some holes that need to be filled in before the new upper string could be installed..

thanks for the info..

There's also a strong possibility there will be ghosting of the old stripes because the paint will have faded everywhere accept where the stripes protected the paint....

davidhilldallas

yes, worried about the fade issue also.
would like to gey the old one removed then gave it buffed
out. it there is a noticable  fade, then will just reinstall
a new 70 mid panel back again.

so yes, fingers crossed on the paint not faded

davidhilldallas

also hope to not upset the purest, 71 strip on a 70.
the 440 in the car is not original, so car is already not
a pure numbers matching  70..

RUNCHARGER

Oh no, I like the 70 stripe myself but you have to put on what you like. Good idea on buffing the paint on removal.
