Door/rear quarter top trim clip

Got my trim ready, brought these clips months back, but having trouble getting them on studs. Have removed paint on stud shanks, problem is the studs seem too short, the clips will not compress down to allow them to slide under the stud cap.
Anyone had this issue, any suggestions to fix.

Any luck with this? Curious - where did you get the clips from? I need to get some new ones for my '74. Only source I could find was 521 Restorations.

If you removed all the paint on the stud, you're issue is the amount of paint on the top of the door edge.  Have someone hold the clip down as tight to the top of the door edge as possible, take a 1/4" extension and tap the end of the clip with a hammer, it'll go on.

Thanks for the tip on how to get clip on, not looking forward to trying it but need to get trim on.

I will keep looking for the business I got the clips from, must have the invoice somewhere.
