extra hole in firewall??

I started installing all the interior items  in the car including the carpet and gas pedal. Being this is my first ebody I just came across a ,maybe 1" hole just over the two gas pedal bolts that I thought was suppose to be there. My question is ,and I think I know the answer,Is this hole not suppose to be there??
Its the hole just above the two gas pedal nuts in the picture I took

thank you Alan.. I knew you I could count on you! I really thought I was going to have to close that hole up! Couldn't find a picture of that hole nowhere! Including on here where all the body holes are and what they are used for!

Great pictures.. Now I see where the green wire goes  for the safety switch . wasn't sure of the exact location for that !1 thanks again as always Alan!!

Thats also the location where in 70 the wiring for cruise control belongs...
