I wonder if the car came with the rally hood.

As per the fender tag, no. Same as the rallye cluster, but it dose have the variable speed wiper motor added.

Mr Lee

The gator top looks different depending on the lighting.  Sometimes it looks more brown and the other times more black.

And I agree that it seems to darken with age.... even when it's not exposed to light.  Here is an NOS top I had that I got in 1995 which sat in a box til 2020.

The first two pics are the NOS top.

The third pic is the Legendary reproduction... which is a very nice copy if you ask me.

These pics were taken in my garage.  Same lighting.  Perhaps a different angle but...

(Oh, and the top that's on the car now is the repro')

Pretty crazy that there was still NOS material out there...I wonder if there is any NOS convertible top material. Probably not...

I bet there is some NOS out there.  But the price tag would reflect convertible prices.

Put an ad up for it.  Post an actual board asking for it at Carlisle Nationals in the swap area. I've been amazed at what I have seen come out of carlisle swap owners.   From private stash's.

Again, I bought that NOS top in 1995, but yeah....

The back story for those who haven't heard it before (I think I may have told it on here before):
One day back in '95, my brother saw an ad in one of the mopar magazines that someone had a found a roll of NOS gator top material and they had enough material to make like 8 tops with it.  I jumped on it.  Paid $800 for it and bought it from Legendary.

25 years later I had a guy come to my house to finally install it.  Laid it out on the car ....  and it was too narrow!  It was cut wrong or maybe it was for a different car, I dunno, but it was definitely too narrow.  Called up Legendary and told them the deal.  They said we'll give you 30% off a new reproduction.  I said no way.  I sent the top back to them so they could verify it was cut wrong, showed them my receipt and after some discussion, they sent me a new reproduction gator top free of charge ...a $1,300 value, which after you consider inflation was about equal to me paying $800 back in 1995.

I am lucky that they had a very nice reproduction top to offer because for 25 years I was stoked about putting that NOS top on... one day.  You can imagine my disappointment when I saw that it was too narrow after waiting so long to put it on.

I love the look of Gator grain. Just one of the many cool features of having a Mopar. I thought about adding it to my car. I bought the required trim etc... but in the end just wouldn't  suit the theme of my car. Maybe I need another lol
