Have a 1970 Cuda w/shaker hood with sloppy hood hindges. Need advice on buying new or getting mine rebuilt.
My body man says to get mine rebuilt but by whom? Would like to keep the stock look. I'm sure someone has a good rebuilder out there. Guess I'll have to repaint them too?
Thanks

Had mine done by SMS Auto Restoration Services in Derry NH.  They do excellent work.

Some of you may remember I left my hood pin retainers off in December and the hood flew up pulled off its hinges; hinges got bent up a bit.  I reached out to resto rick and he can repair my hinges; he let me know my hinges are the '71-72 style, but possibly original for a car with a June 1970 build date.  Any thoughts from the group here as to whether or not these could be correct for my car or if I should hunt down a set of '70 style hinges?

Good info here - I would trust his opinion. But if you want to go with some earlier ones I have a few extra pairs of 70 hinges.

I doubt you'd want to go with anything earlier than the 3/31 style on a late 70-built car, given the choice.

thanks @EV2RTSE, appreciate the feedback.  I have read through the references here, great stuff.  I am wondering what people think of the '71 style hinges on a June '70 build?  If that would not be unheard of I will have mine rebuilt.

Bumping this one:

Resto Rick said I have '71-'72 style hood hinges, but due to the June '70 build date maybe not unheard of - opinions from the group if you think that what I have may be correct for the build date?

So the 71 style hinges should have the 3/8" bolts rather than 5/16" I believe?, these posts on moparts have a little more info, although it would still seem "it's possible"

Yes: Bigger bolts into the hood on the 71-4 hinges. Probably the result of crash testing and changed at the same time as the crumple zones.

For what it's worth here's my 70 completely unmolested 318 car with 7/70 build.
