I was trying to reinstall my antennae base and looking for a new mast for my challenger. But I can't find anything that looks like mine. None are spring mounted. Now I'mn thinking this isn't original. Anyone know what this is from?

That's not original.  It's an aftermarket piece.  Antennas used to be available from Dales Cuda Shop but they aren't around any more I don't think.  I'm sure other places carry them now.

Dales Cuda shop is still around. Just ordered and rec'd an order just a couple of weeks ago. They have an active eBay store as well.

My wife's 1971 R/T Challenger has a very similar antenna.

Hers was most likely installed in the early 80's by her dad and was probably bought at Radio Shack along with the Realistic stereo/cassette player that was in the car.

I asked the wife if she wanted a correct antenna and she said it reminds her of her dad so leave it alone. :clapping:

If @MoparDave at Roseville doesn't have one, reply back to this thread and I'll look through my parts.  I'm thinking I may have an extra for my 70 project, but I'd have to look.  They shouldn't be too rare.

Thanks all,
For some reason I kinda dig the springy one. Not sure why, probably just grew on me. Funny it might be from Radio shack. I'm currious why someone would change it out. I wonder if it promised better reception or something.

I'm heading out to Fall Fling in Los Angeles in a few weeks and will see if I can get one there. Mine is pitted and the mast is broken. I need something to hang my 76 ball on.  :D

People would break off antennas back in the day as acts of vandalism. A car wash could break them as well. :alan2cents:

I kinda like the springy antenna too.
It telescopes up and down and is rather tall when extended all the way up. I'll bet it does get better reception than a stock antenna and might even be compatible with CB radios from back in the day. :notsure:
