Is there a gasket under fuel lid trim ring?

Anyone know if there is a gasket under this between the paint? DMT doesn't list one. Seems like a really sharp ring not to have a gasket.

Thank you.  Seems kind of a shame to put that trim ring on against the paint without some kind of a gasket.

  I didn't install that ring directly against the paint. I first filled the backside of the ring with cord weatherstripping, installed the ring and the flip top, and then carefully wiped the excess weatherstripping that squeezed out when the screws were tightened.
