Need help Cuda hood hinge mounting with no inner fenders

Hey guys I am building a pro street car. It has no inner fenders so no hinge mounting location. I will be making some light aluminum inner fenders to keep debris off of the motor as this will be a street/strip car. I will be making custom hood hinge mounts but need to get them perfect. Any ideas how to go about this.

Could you box in with some triangles a section from the firewall to the tower bracket and down to your tube frame?

I would agree with that Cody suggested. I'd also add some 3/4" square tubing under the fender lip to more securely mount the fender.
Side note..... have you checked into insurance for it yet? Reason I ask is the liberals told insurance company s that they are no longer allowed to insure cars with various features, including roll bars, wheel tubs, wheele bars or if the vehicle was ever used for timed events such as drag racing or autocross. That was the explanation I got from Hagerty.... I strongly disagree with it but here we are.... :verymad: I had to send them pictures( including inside the trunk) before they would insure mine.

Why not just use a four point lift off hood? You already have the pins there - why not use them.

Is there a reason you want a race car to have a hinged hood? Maybe I'm missing something.

I like that idea a lot.  Keep it as light as possible.  And it keeps it simple too.

Putting the hinges on will not be easy as you'll need to find the perfect location of the hinges so you have enough adjustment to get the hood to sit right.  It can be done for sure, but 4 pins and bingo your hood is on!

Wow, what a comeback.

This is a race car put on the street. I don't see the value in trying to fab up some mounts around a tube front end.

You have to engineer something anyway, I would really be tempted to hinge it forward. Or even cooler hinge it to one side and make it easy to pull the hood off the hinges when it was upright if you had to service that side of the engine.

the hood pin suggestion is what came to mind first for me too, ala A12 style. you could use custom posts to lift it for show, but also makes most engine work a 2 person job just to lift the hood to begin with.

Hi MarkP.. Another option would be to use a firewall mounted hood hinge like the ford rangers have... Here's a pic of a ranger hood hinge...You may need to modify the hinge slightly to rearch the swing but this will give you the main idea for an application where a side mounted hinge isn't possible... It is not the fab part that is not a problem. What I need is the location of where the hinges should be as I have no inner fenders. Only problem with a lift off hood is where do you put it? Once the body and paint is done I am not putting it on my roof.
