Bought after market shaker 340 4bbl baseplate, adapter ring and Bubble years ago finally had a hood painted and reattached. Bubble fit fine at the rear of the opening with hood closed but was down an inch and a half at the front. Am running an Edlebrock Performer carb and stock intake manifold. I had to put spacers between the bubble and the baseplate to make it sit right. What happened?  Is that what the 340 shaker "feet" are for?

Is that a fiberglass base and adapter ring ?? If so those parts tend to warp with the heat or even extended storage if packaged incorrectly..Check out this fiberglass lid..

Both baseplate/adapter ring are fiberglass but are not warped.

I understand what you're saying...But it still appears to be sitting low in the front...The original 340 set-up had two feet in the front...One solution for you to keep those parts are to make some feet to lift the front of the baseplate to the height you need to make it work...With your parts being fiberglass you'll probably need to make some custom length feet to make it work...Here's a pic of an NOS 340 baseplate for reference...

I found a pic of the left side engine mounting location for the 340 "foot"...I don't have the right side pic..

You have a super nice looking car...I would get rid of the fiberglass and get the reproduction steel parts available from Tommy The Chryco  :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I have an extra set of repro "feet" if you need them.  Cover the postage and they're yours.

Great advice and +1 - the fiberglass stuff never sit quite right.
