Hi All, I'm looking for some tips to properly align my trunk lid. It's slightly off, less gap on the driver's side vs the passenger side and sits a little more up on the driver's side so that it's not flush with the quarter panel.  The passenger side is just right.

Left to right is easy just by moving the latch part that's bolted to the trunk lid. To bring the corner down, loosen the hinge bolts and push the lid open more then tighten ...

Looks pretty good in this picture...what happened ? :dunno:

Hi Alan, yes, it does look good in the that pic...I found the trunk lid really hard to close and open so I moved up the latch on the tailpanel up slightly and then ran into the align problem.  Opens and closes with ease but the driver's side alignment is driving me nuts.

What kind of fasteners did you use on the hinges? They are not the stock bolts and I don't seem to have the right tool for them.

Oh yea...I used stainless button head Allen key bolts to match all the bolts I used under the hood. A regular Allen key should work :dunno:

New seals can be a little hard to get closed.  That's normal and does get better with time.  If you can't get it to close easily without messing up the alignment, you can always cut the trunk seal down (before installing) so it's not as thick.  Just an idea.

When you say push it open more - do you mean on the side that is sitting high or on the opposite end? Just wondering what kind of dynamic there is.
I have a similar issue - though sounds more extreme on mine and opposite - the passenger side sitting higher on my '74 Cuda. Like the new trunk lid was warped. I straightened it some already which caused some waves in the skin. Mine closes ok for now - I have the old bumpers in place pending paint - but no weather-stripping yet.
