Which T/A Hood? AAR Quality or Year One?

So after almost 20 years running a T/A hood from Unlimited Products, I am finally going to replace it and need to know should I order my new hood from AAR Quality Fiberglass or Year One?

They are likely the same, YearOne doesn't manufacture anything. They may have a better deal on shipping just based on their volume vs smaller companies.
If you call them up, they will tell you who their supplier is.

Same question here. It appears that the AAR/Stinger hoods are a gray/white gelcoat but the year one hoods appear black online? If they are different gelcoat colors then I would think they may be a different manufacturer? Not sure myself but I'd also like to know which is the best. I know the manufactures may have changed for year one as you stated Alan.

There used to be someone that molded them in black but they retired/passed away? and are no longer making them. The " originals" were pretty rough underhood and not sure if anyone actually make a reproduction of that anymore?  Not sure if this one is any better than what you have? Mine came from Texas molded in white ( which I hate-stone chips) an e-bay purchase 10-12 year ago... I'd like one molded in black!

The finish looks nice on the AAR Quality hood from what I can see on the video.  Looks like they put in provisions for a hood latch?

  If I had to buy one again, I'd opt for one with black gel coat.  As Brad mentioned, it would help hide the inevitable rock chips.

They are not the same, the Year One's are supplied to them exclusively.  Use the Stinger/AAR hood if you don't care if it looks original, not even close.  The Year One hood is the closest to original now available in the market today.  Two things that will have to be modified on the Year One hood, the rear of the hood has a lip on it that needs to be sanded off and the x4 hood alignment bumps on the side will need to me added.

True that. If originality is important, AAR's hood is a much more 'finished' piece than original.

Just ordered a hood from AAR. As expected should ship out in 4-6 weeks, so I should have it by Thanksgiving! Thanks to everyone for the input.

I've never seen an AAR hood from AAR, but would think it would be of similar finish as the T/A hood?
