Window Fuzzie Question

@anlauto I pretty much followed your guidelines (Thank you!) and the service manual and got my doors put back together. As with most Mopar stuff, pretty much a PITA. Anyway...I got to the rearward window fuzzie (the one that you can't install without the down stop installed) and it appears to interfere with the rear window track. First picture is the fuzzie, second picture is with the rear track installed and showing the two screw holes for the fuzzie, third picture is the fuzzie installed but unable to bolt in the rear track. Definitely interfering the way I'm going about it. I assume I'm doing something wrong but nothing obvious is apparent.

Have you tried installing the track first and then the up stop and then the window fuzzie.

The middle picture has the rear track installed. You can see that the screw hole for the fuzzie is directly in front of the track bolt and top of track. The up stop is not an issue and is free and clear. The third picture has the fuzzie installed but the track hits it and won't align with the hole for the track bolt.

I assume the two screws go into the side of the fuzzie with the chamfered holes. That is the way I'm trying to install it.

@headejm   I just look at my doors  (70) , the window fuzzie measures 1 3/4" long and 1" tall. IT's shorter than the fuzzie at the front of the door. Did you remove the fuzzies from the door  yourself or did you get the door in a parts pile. I know there are different sizes. The hook of the backside of the fuzzie, actually touches the head of thee track bolt. If you have all the correct parts it should fit

I was also installing my windows for the first time in 30 years yesterday. Major pain in the ,,,,, if you haven't done it in years.

What I found out about the fuzzies:
- The flat zone goes towards the window
- I bought the repro fuzzy kit.......the screws they give in the kit DO NOT work......they spin due to lack of threads near the screw head.....you must use the original flat head screws, or, similar flat head screw.
- The long fuzzie towards the front is easy to access
- The short fuzzie in back gave me major issues......same as you.......there is really no where that tells you you must put the rear window channel guide on the door first, then, put on the rear fuzzie. Also, must do this with the window out. Unless I missed a trick, there is NO WAY to install the bracket bolt which is hidden behind the rear fuzzie with the window IN.

Took me hours to get all the major parts in the door. Then, you get the pleasure of ADJUSTING all the parts to ensure the window mates with the A-Pillar. Mine is a convertible and my top frame is also going on at the same time. May take days to line all windows and seals up.

My door parts are all original and I removed them and took several pictures prior to removing them. Unfortunately, I didn't take the exact picture that I need to see the rear fuzzie. Everything else is installed and the window operates smoothly. Only problem is the interference between the rear fuzzie and the top of the rear track.

@Banana The rear fuzzie should go in last. Remove the rubber down stop from the bottom of the door. This lets the window go down farther so you can get to the two rear fuzzie screws. Window should be installed for this last step. Reinstall the down stop and you should be good to go.

The rear track bolt is accessed through a hole in your window. Should be two holes in your window glass near the bottom. One is for the rear track and the other is for the rear up stop allen head bolt.

@Cuda Cody Do you happen to have a door photo (or two) showing the area around the rear track top bolt and rear fuzzie? I can't see how the rear fuzzie doesn't interfere with the rear track and bolt.

Ahh.....remove down-stop, then, drop window further......learn something new every day....thanks much

I see what you mean now with interefence.

Yesterday my left side went on with no interference.

Today, BIG intereference on right side. Looks like the door sheet metal (on the right side) is closer to the track and bolt, causing the fuzzie to interfere.

I also have a 1970 door on the left, and a 1971 door on the right.......still looking at the geometrical differences.....no solution yet

Question:

For the front and rear fuzzies: Do the flat sides, or the curved up ends go against the window?

Or, do the screw hole countersinks go against the door or outward toward the screw head?

@CudaCody....from the second pic down.....it's hard to see which direction the fuzzie is installed........think it show countersin towards door, but please confirm....thanks very much.

If countersink is towards door, I think our interference questions are answered !!
