I went to the Truck show once with my 51 Dodge and there was about a dozen old trucks. Everything else was and S10 and 4wd pickups and every other guy blasting their stereo. Seems like the Mopar show is still the best. Hope it stays that way too. Me and Cudagirl3406 will be driving out Thursday and should be at the kickoff. Looking forward to putting some faces to the forum names.

Thanks for the reply Ed!  For all that do not know, as far as I'm concerned, Ed is in charge of almost everything at Carlisle and he is my "Go To" guy when I need something.  Personally I wouldn't change a thing as I think the show is organized and run very well!  He works with me on the tent and I am satisfied with the location as it is typically right in the middle of the E-bodies.

Anyways, big thanks to Ed for all that he does for us and the show!   :worship:

Couldn't agree more , thank you Ed, for all you do.  :clapping: :ohyeah:

It seems like the old school muscle scene is slowly getting over ran by the new muscle cars. Guess my gen isn't really into older cars due to them not wanting deal with rust and it being a expensive hobby I'm guessing .

Sad but true. Younger generation can't afford to buy an E body but for a couple grand they can go to a dealer and drive away with  new or slightly used Challenger. Enjoy them e Bodies while you can because they're going to be extinct like the dinosaurs.

Yeah, on the same token it's kinduva buzz-kill when you go somewhere like the Mopar Nats and there's a Cuda parked next to a Neon or something...  :)

I dunno, I sort of like variety and no mopar is a bad mopar.

I wont be at Carlisle this year --- first year in 10 I have missed....and going to Nats instead.

Last year we brought three vehicles to Carlisle, and they were spread apart over the grounds. We picked the fish to sit next to but it would have been nice to have them together.

I have gotten to the point in some ways where I am jaded walking thru row after row of the same car....sot of like sensory overload....on one hand its neat being in a crowd of ebodies, but on the other, I do like variety.

We did get them together on sunday, but by then the event is over.

And thats another thing I wish wasn't the case at Carlisle......sunday morning all the vendors and half the show field are gone. I wanted to come this year but would not get there til late friday night. Two nights hotel, gas/tolls for two or three vehicles to and from and we are "only" 175 miles away , plus registering 3 cars is just too much money to spend for a single day of event.  Even when I get there late thursday and have friday and saturday its still not enough time to see everything and really scrounge the parts area.  I always leave on sunday late morning feeling a bit let down cause by then there is nothing to see really.

Hope  to be back at Carlisle for 2019.

Will see how I feel after going to nats this year I guess.

My 19 year old wanted an old mopar for a daily driver....couldnt swing another ebody and would hate to subject one to daily use anyways....but we found him a nice 80 Volare.....have a lot into it, frankly, but its been worth the memories and fun so far.

Finding a reasonably priced ebody is near impossible these days around here IMHO.   I probably overpaid for mine as roller 10 years ago because it was tough THEN.

But hey....where can I "for a couple grand they can go to a dealer and drive away with  new or slightly used Challenger" ????    I'd love a new one to sit beside my Cuda!   :)

If memory serves me right, didn't you have engine problems with the slant six in your son's Volare. I recall from the other forum.

Wow.......I missed this question for a whole year...LOL

SORRY!!!

Yeah, about 6 weeks after bringing it home, he lost oil pressure....turns out a chunk of a cam bearing got up into the oil pump and siezed it.

The oil pump was new, it appeared, so the previous owner new the situiation.....cam bearings going out.  When we disaasembeld it, the pickup sounded like a marracca.

We had the engine rebuilt and put a slightly more aggressive cam in it.....swapped the single bbl carb for a 2 bbl supersix setup......

Had some fits and starts getting a GOOD Carter carb for it but finally found a NOS that someone sold us cheap.

Car has been doing well.....we did have to patch up some rot on part of the frame.....and there is some pinworm moving in......but thats using an old mopar as a daily driver I guess....LOL

The car has been great...fun car, gets lots of comments.....
