That may be a BC thing only, as in Ontario, if the car has a salvage brand it may or may not be plated and would have to go through a structural and mechanical inspection, the cost of which can run in the $500-1000 range. If it's been in the water up to the bottom of the dash, it'll be ruled irreparable and can't be put back on the road regardless of what you do or say. Caveat emptor laddies!
