Very nice Cuda, but there's mismatched shades of gold on both sides of it.

Ya looks like someone panel painted it, single stage did not blend well. Silver, gold and light blue was near impossible to match in those days.  :alan2cents:

I had to do a double take when I saw it because my 71 vert is also a base model in gold with a black top. I definitely like my tan interior over that gold interior. Looks a bit weird but maybe it would grow on me if the plastic covers were removed.

That car is 20 minutes from me if someone in here was serious. I've been looking for a nice 71 for many years and two months after buying one, a similar one pops up a very short distance away.

As far as condition, it wouldn't surprise me if an unrestored car had old body damage that was repaired and panel painted over it's 50 year life span. I think it's just remarkable that it's original and unmodified.

I wouldn't say "unmodified" The wheels and exhaust are for sure not original....

If I wanted to place a nickel bet, I would say it was hit in the driver's side front...There looks to be damage on the inner apron, and the undercoat/dirt on the inside of the fenders are different colours side to side....I'm going to guess the K-Frame was swapped and both the K Frame shield and starter splash shields are missing on the driver's side.  :alan2cents:

That would negate the 95% original paint claim.

If he bought it new I wonder what caused the title to be issued in December of 1978...

K member doesn't surprise me at all, I've seen other 383 cars with them...  Cool car to park next to a gold vert.... His & Hers... :pokeeye:

K member doesn't surprise me at all,

yea, but the build sheet calls for 3583052 which doesn't have a skid plate. I guess the factory could have made a substitution or just a plain old mistake :dunno:

Tie rod still looks bent  :alan2cents:  and the front valance fits terrible and the strut bars are two different colours

And one control arm has a sway bar tab but the other doesn't...  Yeah, there's been some parts changing going on...

it's coded for 14" rallyes & that's what I see  :takealook: but hey!, its got front "torque boxes"
since he doesn't claim 21K original miles - we're looking at an unrestored 121K mile 1971 Gran Coupe (I think it's doing pretty good  :bigthumb:) on at least its 3rd set of tires by 1980 (probably 4th or 5th set in less than 10 years & none since)
the top has been replaced - it should be gold (V1Y) lots of mismatched paint & related issues, check out his paint video (claims a "dent pro" could fix this)  :crazytalk:

Wow, all of you guys are pretty hard on this poor Barracuda! We should always be hard on sellers like this who hype up a car. They definitely have pumped up this car like it's the all time biggest holy grail car to be found. But I contend that the car itself is quite a find if it can be had at a fair price.

I think it's a nice car and it definitely needs work. it's not a restored car so that should be expected. There are no doubt a hundred and one things to be repaired or changed back to original on this car. If he wanted $85k for it, then I'd be picking it apart too as not good enough for the money.

If this were a 69 camaro, I could see being so nit picky. But unlike a camaro, this is a very hard to find car. If you were to search the entire Internet for active listings of a BH or BP Barracuda, you probably won't find more than three at any one time. And those you do find are piles of junk needing massive amounts of work. I looked for years and decent cars really are that hard to find. Normally, the original engine, hood, rear valance, etc. are replaced. And they of course they have spoilers added along with billboards.

I'm betting this car goes to mid 30s on the bidding. Maybe high 30s.
