Looks pretty legit ...$40K is about right....has a real crappy reproduction shaker scoop on it though... :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....
Check out my web site ....  Alan Gallant Automotive Restoration

I don't think it's legit because that doesn't look like a Charger to me!  :P
They were talking about this one on Moparts earlier in the month when it was listed as a Challenger with an engine out of a Charger.  Posters weren't too impressed with the quality of the restoration, painted over hardware and latches, etc.  Evidence of rust repair, NOM engine.  It was $44K then so must be an end of the month special now

Actually the part that caught my attention was the over inflated description. I always cringe when a seller compares their car to another at three times the price (therefore theirs is a bargain). Kinda used car sales tactic....better hurry and buy it before this cream puff gets away.

$40k asking with a Make Offer is getting to be realistic I think. As always I would never buy a car without a personal look over.

This car was for sale on CL few months ago....

Look at the fender tag from both cars. Sure looks the same to me.

Tag appears to be the same. Restored in a few months?

I can't see it being done in less than six. As rough as the car is, who would restore it so quickly and sell it off so fast for what appears to be a pretty good price. I also can't see anyone accidentally listing it as a charger and not bothering to correct the ad.

If i'm right the car was listed last summer

Fast retoration....  :dunno:

Oh and in the description, it happens to have recently been restored by the second owner who just happens to have a disease that now longer allows him to drive. It's being sold by someone else. And the seller has only one other item for sale which happens to be this same exact car but listed as a Challenger. His feedback rating is very low and it looks like small purchases rather than items sold. This thing is one red flag after another.

The only way I'd even consider this deal is in person with all the usual precautions taken.

I have few other pics if needed. Let me know.

Great photos: That will give a potential buyer an idea where to look first. It is certainly possible the car has been done right but in that short of a time frame it probably wasn't redone for the love of the car.

This is a good example of what makes a site like this so valuable. The likeliness of the work to the car being correctly done in such a short time is slim.

Read the description and it's riddled with lies. It states in the ad that there was very little surface rust before the restoration. Clearly the real version needed lots of new metal replaced. I doubt the guy with M.S. did the work himself so if the story were true, he paid something for the car then another 80k to restore it nicely all so he could have some guy flip it for him at a really good price. If any of us spent that kind of coin on a valuable car like this, we'd shoot for more and settle for a bit less.

I used to do fraud investigations and one common theme with every victim was they were willing to rationalize every red flag away because they stood to gain a lot. Greed and desire blind.
