I would "ASSUME" the 3 cars above were decent original cars that had VINs altered/created to represent a more valuable car with unaltered body numbers

I get making a fake VIN, but how do you get the title to match?

some states titles are easy to obtain,

others you can obtain titles by committing an act of perjury

The individual must have been sworn in, be under oath, or have made a solemn promise or affirmation to tell the truth.

or take a current title to a DMV office and state "I noticed a typo on my title: this "N" should be a "V", the car is right outside - take a look"

Back when I saw it in 1983 it had the BS27V VIN tag on the dash. I also remember thinking that something was not quite right with the car. It's been so long I don't recall what it was now. Around the same time period 1983 to '87, I had two 1971 440 six barrel ragtops (a 4 speed and an auto) and a 71 hemi auto ragtop (all real cars), so I sort of knew what I was looking at back then...and this FK5 car just didnt seem right to me.

Yea, I think you're right, I remember there being a fight over it or something...I was at displaying one of my cars at the same show when they debuted that white convertible in Toronto....I still remember the confusion when talking to them...

The guy who owns the transmission has always refused to sell it to the people who recreated the car...
Such a waste of resources to do a great restoration on a car that cannot even be taken out of hiding...

Funny thing about all the cars now listed in this thread is that  ( to the best of my knowledge) they all still exist, they all still have owners, they are all known to be frauds....YET....the car have not been confiscated by the Feds, they have not been crushed, they are still able to be bought and sold ?????
